The fact of getting married in South Korean

Many films and songs mention that all people need for wedding is LOVE. However, in South Korea, a couple wants to get married also cares many things.

This is a list of common things that Koreans care before getting marries other Koreans.

Wedding Cost

The cost for wedding is very expensive (about $200,000). The cost is higher four times than the average annual income of Korean.

Gift-giving takes much money. Traditionally, the groom and bridge’s families have exchanged gifts as mink coasts, good silk, hanbok (Korean traditional clothes), jewelry…

If the groom comes from rich families, then he can pay all for the most bomb wedding. However, if he comes from the normal family, then groom and bride will share the wedding cost

According to the locals, most of couples have to use parents’ money for get married.

Might living with parents
Although South Korea is a developing country, many Korean families still keep the traditional values. Many couples will invite their parents to live with them.
On the other hand, the crazy wedding expense is also a reason for many Korean couples choosing to live with their parents.
Living with parents is not a bad thing. Couples can get the real family food and the help of taking care of children. 

Parent’s Permission
In South Korea, although you are accepted by your lover, you also need the permission from her/his parents. The love is free in South Korea, but the marriage is a union of two families. Thus the most marriage needs the acceptation of two families.
